Considering the growing list
of concerns pertaining to Tenkiller Lake, The Illinois River,
and the surrounding areas, this page became necessary. Sad as
it is, it seems we are under a constant barrage of obstacles
that need overcoming to preserve and improve the quality of life
we enjoy. Some of these are disaster related, such as the I40
bridge accident, some are political in nature, as in the dispute
with neighboring state Arkansas over the polluting of the Illinois
River. Then there is the ill timing of the DEQ concerning the
Tenkiller State Park sewage problems. These are all extremely
important issues that impact the economic health of the area.
Some, such as the I40 bridge, we have little control of. The
political issues however need every concerned citizens attention
and input for successful resolution.
